When using your digital wallet card on some mass transit system, such as Transport for London (TfL), your card will not be charged in full until the end of current day or start of the next day. Ring-fenced transactions are to help you avoid going over budget when these charges are made.
When you first tap into a mass transit system they will check that your card is a valid form of payment. Conferma Pay will recognise this check and deduct a pre-defined amount (currently £12.00 for TfL) from your digital wallet card available balance. Conferma Pay do this to ensure you have enough money at the end of the day when the final charge is made.
This will only happen once per day when you first tap into the mass transit system. Journeys through the rest of the day will be pooled.
If the final charge is less than the ring-fenced amount we will then refund the difference to your digital wallet card available balance.
The amount that is ring-fenced may be lower than the final cost in exceptional cases. Conferma Pay will charge any additional amount in these cases.
Any ring-fenced amount will be shown along side your transactions in the card details screen. Tapping into the ring-fenced transaction will give you more details on what it is. When the final charge is made the transaction will be updated with the final amount.
